in cycling... the city bicycle community is growing. Each monthly ride, new faces and bikes appear from the woodwork. My days have turned into routine, geometric routes, running parallel maps in my head: from home to work, work to home, home to zia, so forth and so forth. A few stops here and there but definitely enjoying my new side of town. Each street has been ridden on so often that my body makes the proper jerks, and movements, to ride the perfect, smooth line. That plus great weather and a killer soundtrack is pure bliss. Sprint and Destroy is just around the corner and training is in the process. A few cats from SLC, and hopefully LA, will be in attendance.
in music... my record collection is growing, not only in size but in quality. At my neighborhood record store I am racking up the ZIA Record points. Music is life.

I had heard news a few weeks ago that my step brother received an award for a short story he wrote in school. It had been a topic of discussion at the dinner table; when I would trek to Henderson to see my family. I'm really proud of my brother's achievement and applaud his mature writing ability. It would be far too great of a stretch, to imagine that I had some influence on this; family is family. Finally, after great praises from my parents, and a slew of young writers association

-See Radiohead Before I Die: CHECK

Looks like Radiohead are making their only U.S. stop, supporting their In Rainbows record, in New York City. Headlining Friday and Saturday during a three day festival. Well after reading a report from Pitchfork about the lineup and details (Put on by Paul Tollett, the same organizer as Coachella, inside the Liberty State Park, Statue to Liberty backdrop, Animal Collective, Matric, the Roots, etc) I immediately jumped on the oppurtunity and bought tickets twenty minutes after they were on sale. I think both dates are now sold out, referring to the band's website.
August 9th is a long ways away and no plans have been made yet. All I have is a date and a few hours to dedicate my time. Which begs the questions of: How to get there (1)car, uhh nope, definitely don't even trust it to take to to LA, let alone across the country. (2) airplane, maybe, would definitely take the fun out of seeing the east coast, but would get me there in a snap. (3)Amtrak, maybe, it would probably be better to fly somewhere in the midwest, so I'm not stuck on a train for a week.
Either way it's getting done, and going to get done in my regular fashion. Alone. Messenger bag. Camera. Books. I haven't seen the east coast in some time. excitement.

new crib
It's an odd feeling really. The reaction to all the thought bubbles swelling up in my mind. All the friends i used to have, as Bob Dylan said, "...are an illusion to me now." Even in a time of completely zero communication and absolute spontaneity, life seemed longer, without the drawn out dulls, life brings us today. Now; instant messages, or immediate one-word-conversation, or borderline-small-talk arguments. Sad.
We bought an old house hidden from everything. I sit. Stories have been told and for-told inside these walls; but for the moment they don't matter. I'm making my own stories and running with them. A bottle of wine in the works and Cinematic Orchestra in full spin in from of me. This is life, all the other perpetrators are running second best. The friends I have are first rate and for once, my family is at the top of the list, above all the self educed problems, girls, and goals that were artificially made to being with. happiness.

texting fiends
I started to type 'promise' and it automatically thought I was trying to write 'probably'. Close, but strangely appropriate. There should not be anymore of these electric- communication-relationships. Some people, in this day and age can make plans without uttering a single word. These are the products of my generation. Sad.

I was riding to the District in Green Valley to meet a guy who wanted to buy an old textbook I had posted on Craigslist. It's a good +25 mile ride from NuVision! I had just crushed through some heavy, stand-still traffic and was pretty tired; trackstanding at the light on Sunset and Las Vegas BLVD. The Green arrow errupted and I take off instantly. I'm in the drops and digging heavy down Sunset. A blue Altima (or something) rolls up really, really close to me and a guy sticks half his body out of the back passenger window and slaps me in the butt! What?!?
Kinda confused and kinda angry, I don't even bother trying to catch up to the car. A decision made on half fatigue and apathy. I laugh at the incident and let it pass through my mind. The wind is strong and seems to be going against me, no matter which direction I ride. I stop by the Post Office to catch my breathe, put on an extra pair of socks, and check my cell phone for the time. Alas, a text message!! A girl friend of mine texted, "U looked cute riding on the street. So my friend hit you in the butt. Hope he didnt scare u!"
Hell yeah!

not-so-weekly-update-post
The year has passed. the holiday season is over. Yesterday I came into work two hours early, just to have the sub-contractor indirectly tell me: he didn't do his job right. He will have to wait until Monday to complete his task. I have a greater respect and sympathy my Father, and all he has to put up with at work.
No matter; I walked the empty Strip in an ominous dawn to the nearest Starbucks. They had replaced their red holiday coffee cups with their standard white and kelly green design. Everything Must GO signs covered the once appropriate and festive ornaments. I guess that's when it struck me that the holidays were over. There wasn't a feeling of remorse nor a lose of geity; I just took it as a chance to breath. A quick window to catch up on everything I have been putting off -this entry for starters- and run errands long overdue.
in the workforce...LV2 #117 is now in operation! Long hours and a billion emails later made it happen. Twelve to fourteen hour days seem repetitious to me now. Forty hour work week seems like less of a chore and more of a pre-requisite. The store is not quite up to my standards, but a step in the right direction none the less.
in literature... Hunger by Knut Hamun.
in music...I stumbled upon a great little electronic duo from Mexico dubbed Prepare to Meet Thy Broom!!! They offer quirky remixes (or covers, as they say) to elctro/dance classics; as well as their own unique electro/pop/thrash tunes. Their glitchy remix of Thieves Like Us "Drugs in my body" is an instant classic in my book!
Listen for yourself...

Mad props to Missingtoof for keeping kids in the loop. They posted a few remixed by the Cool Kids a while back and they are insane! Big Ride Remix is my current myspace song. With a little bit of gold and a pager...fresh haircut, clean shave with a razorrr.
new years eve... oh yeah, I'm still recovering. Rode the once-in-a-lifetime deserted Strip with some great friends. Watched Brian and Kirk's band play. Drank whatever was handed to me. Danced until there was no one left.
I think that's everything on my mind.

Oh Fall
Oh Fall, as if it ever had a chance.
hot and cold-cut the middle out
you are left with bare, bones
Orange leaves fall before they change
Burgundy
And buried under white
and buried under more white.
This is the product
of a completly desolate land.
"I don't tell lies just because people might be listening."
-Kawabata Snow Country
(I think I wrote this blog just to say that quote)
Odd and deserted bike trails/lanes took me all around Henderson. Black, apocalyptic rain clouds devoured the west and sunrise mountains. The sky in Henderson seemed to be in the eye of the storm, while I cowardly enjoyed seclusion. I could only hear the hum from my tired rolling down the pavement, the peaceful pants of my breath battling between fatigue and freezing. I needed this. A day of peace. But when I reach the bottom of a glass, or dig from the back of my brain; I am still waiting for that thunderstorm.
NEW Project. I will be here all day and night for a few months

bikes in alleyways
This photo reminds me of Fight Club. Man, you have no idea how hard it was to get this bike to stand up like that. Contrary to believe, very little Photoshop editing was used. Many good memories from this night, and this photo is only a mill-second of the whole endeavor. Fall is upon us.
This is me.

I AM 20

At 8:31 am Saturday morning, I was brought upon this world 20 years ago. It's been a solid week of celebration, but now it's official. My teenage years have come and past. The feeling of absolute restlessness has slowly come to an ease. The artificial goal I set for myself, to finish college as quick as possible, was only measured by the people around me. My feverish thirst for knowledge and untapped talents was in response to such thoughts. I've decided to take life as it is and not be in such a hurry to get through it. It's time to suck the marrow out of life. Time to get my head straight.
I was bombarded with text messages, phone calls, and e-mails; all wishing me a happy birthday. My mother's phone call woke me up, as expected, and she assured me that she was proud to have me as a son. She would stand behind any decision I make involving my immediate future- Cleveland or Vegas. The highlight was probably the BBQ a week prior. Everyone was there. The mood was exceptional and the food was top notch. Always a good idea.
New shoes, Toshi Double Straps, camera, shirt, hand-knit scarf, gloves, Ratatat "Classics", another turntable, and treats upon treats; I'd say I made out like a bandit.
What more could I wish for?

Good friends...

A better tomorrow...

Health and the means to do so...

and keep smiling through it all...

Cheers.

I'm a happy camper
USPS took pity on me. Turns out I forgot I sent it to my mom's house in Henderson. So the DVD was just chilling for a few days. It's a great film. Lots of scary and glorious moments.

stay in the loop
begin transmission...
In the past week, I have managed to obtain 20 hours of sleep. My eyelids feel heavier than my body. I think I will sleep until Saturday.
I just wrapped up my second research paper and consider myself an amateur Feng Shui artist.
If I lived in San Francisco, I would receive my mash dvd and shirt today, via bike messenger. I obviously live in the wrong town.
in music...
After one million downloads and gong platinum...kinda, thehoodinternet released Volume II on Monday morning. While it starts off slow, it picks up and doesn't let go. With a laundry list of hits from yesterday and today, the combinations will shock and amaze you. I personally love the track with Rick Ross vs Ghosthustler vs Wilco. That shit was ridiculous.
Demonoid.com went under again. And as usual, they left with a single line saying thanks for understanding and they hope to be back soon. With OiNK completely out of the picture, the future of torrent sites looks grim. Just as I was about to download Ratatat "Classics" I get the news, so if anyone has that album please send it to me via e-mail, aim, pando, etc...
on the come up:
Next week is Thanksgiving and my Birthday. Get hyped. Small little BBQ this Saturday, message me if you want to attend. Burgers, fajitas, veggie burgers, smoresss. dang. Count that as the third consecutive birthday my parents have been out of town for. Seems to be a bigger deal to my friends than myself.
Well, I think that's about everything that's been on my mind.

wings to take flite
It has been a good day. Sold my Bridgestone to a good friend of mine. I'm glad it will be going to some good use. Now I have to get a front brake working for him, and he should be golden. Thanks Fish. Still no luck on selling my EGO Drumset, it's just sitting taking up space. If you know of anyone who wants a great sounding, looking kit, let me know...or them.
Matt sold me his KHS Flite 100 Track Bike. "57 with 48X17 gear ratio! Good geometry. Moving up. A bit harder to stop but I will find that sweet spot soon enough. I'm just waiting on a matching machined Deep-V rim with Miche Primato hub. Then I will be set.
yeahh my license place says Ketel 1, do something about it.
more pictures soon. time to ride.

the most famous Ciocc pursuit bike.
Effectiveness. My days have been in steady progress. My brain is a mass of bright, neon-colored Things To Do stickie notes. My head is moving a billion miles an hour. It only hurts if I sit still.
Things to look forward to...
New track bike
MASH DVD
Bjork with Ratatat
and travel adventures coming soon...
Garrett let me ride this bike and no one else! Thanks man. I was very gentle, it was like riding a small clown bike. He jumped on mine and couldn't reach the pedals! :) I finally found a few picture of it. Go MASH a bike.
