Since Silver Jews split two years ago, David Berman has kept low key. He released a book of cartoons, another of short stories, and poetry. Now add blogger to his resume. While he's still very new to the blog-o-sphere scene, mentholmountains.blogspot.com has already taken shape and a few followers. After the jump, you will find selected poems, author quotes, random videos, and a picture of a dog.

R.I.P Trish Keenan

Broadcast's frontwoman Trish Keenan entered hospital yesterday.

It seems we are losing all the unspoken heros this year.
According to a statement from Warp Records:
It is with great sadness we announce that Trish Keenan from Broadcast passed away at 9am this morning in hospital. She died from complications with pneumonia after battling the illness for two weeks in intensive care. Our thoughts go out to James, Martin, her friends and her family and we request that the public respect their wishes for privacy at this time. This is an untimely tragic loss and we will miss Trish dearly - a unique voice, an extraordinary talent and a beautiful human being. Rest in Peace.

Meg Ryan

I think about this girl every three seconds.

I moved out of my house and into my Mom's for a short period of time. The Boys of Summer house is dead. Megan and I still get some quality face time in.

Fabian Cancellara in 2010

Fabian Cancellara was awarded cyclist of the year over at CyclingNews.com.

And rightfully so, anyone who gets accused of, literally, having a motor in their bike deserves it. It's hard to see in the photo above but it says Olympic and World Champion on his aero-helmet. He is the fastest time-trialist in the world...year after year.

With the early-racing season only three weeks away it's time to get those miles in. The weather is still barely above freezing but I feel like the advantage I have this season is experience and being well rested. I can't wait to start racing again!

I am not a machine

After noticing repeated pains on the side of my knee while riding, I decided to see a physical therapist. Matt Smith PT, is an ex-cycling pro, team sponsor and specialist in cycling related injuries. After a few tests we concurred that I have slightly irritated my bicep femoris (connecting point of two major tendons) in my knee. Luckily, it's nothing too serious. Everything else looks good, he said. A few extensive hamstring stretches should do the trick. I should be back to form in time for race season...

SF10 : Bay-cation

Megan and I ventured off to the Bay for a quick little get-away.

not-so-weekly-update post

First post in close to a month, fear not.

Whoa. I hate to say this again, but pardon the lack of intense awesomeness that normally comes from this blog. I have not forgotten the glory of Blogger and sold out to Tumblr or some other social network site. Well... I did get a tumblr haha, here it is tumblr. This blog will still be updated, just with more thoughtout posts and interesting topics rather than a single photo and an incomplete sentence. The best of both worlds will come out! Yes, I agree, three social accounts is exccessive for me but let's see how long it lasts. I have a deep loyalty to my blog.

Off Season is in full swing. The leaves are changing and the weather is requiring a few more layers in the morning. I'm slowly creeping back into training for the next racing season. Right now is not the time to worry about infrequent interval workouts, trying to catch up on miles, or stressing to maintain peak race form. This is the time to fall back in love with the bike and remember why I do this in the first place.

Megan and I had a quick little get away to San Francisco; a "Bay-cation" if you will! We had both visited the city on seperate occassions but this was our first time together and our first trip together in general! Joe and Saskia (House of Commons) put us up in their quiant little home in upper Japantown. Their kindness was overwhelming and they made our stay perfect. They are genuinely amazing people. Befriend them any way you can! It's safe to say that Meg and I will be exploring more cities and spending a lot of time together.

New mixtapes, New Years Resolutions, 2010 Best Record List, and infinite amount of pictures...
This is the shape of things to come...

Johnny Rotten's new book proposition...

Sex Pistols/PiL frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) is our new Willy Wonka. Drowned in Sound reports that Lydon has written a new coffee table book, Mr. Rotten's Scrapbook, which is limited to 750 copies and costs £449, or about $723. 100 of those 750 copies includes one of the golden tickets you see above. This ticket entitles you to a 10-minute one-on-one webcam chat with Mr. Lydon himself. So $611 for a book and a 13.3% chance to Skype with one of rock history's most notorious assholes. Hey, it's your money.

Brian Eno Interview

Electronic, Avant-Garde musician, producer, legend Brian Eno has a chat.

I've always been the awkward type, usually comfortable in uneasy silence, and typically letting my hands do the talking. There is something special I see in Brian Eno. The Grammy Award winning producer portrays the image of a life-less soul to outsiders but in this interview he puts a lot of questions into laughs. Please enjoy and dig into this guy!
