See you tomorrow...

Citizens of SF, you've been warned.

Foursquare

Yes, another social app.

What I like about the foursquare app is that it forces the user to be active and go places. It really helps keep track of where you have been and explore nearby places. Add me and suggest some places to check out...user : ryan okeefe

2012 NRC Announced

USA Cycling announced the NRC Crits for 2012.

It's always on my mind. Racing. USA Cycling announced the Nat'l Racing Calender for Criteriums. While most of these races don't affect me, it's good to see what races the pros will be at. Last year I did Relands Crit, Manhattan Beach, and Dana Point.

“Criterium racing is a discipline dominated by riders whose skill sets differ from those who dominate longer-format road races,” explains USA Cycling’s Managing Director of Events, Micah Rice. “We’re excited to give this uniquely American discipline, as well as its top competitors, a chance to shine on its own.”

Vay Cay #2

Another week off...

I had barely become acclimated to the regular work week before it was time to take another week off. God, I love Prada. Having spent my last vacation week running around town for Interbike, it was nice to just lounge around; venturing out only for coffee and lunch.

I rode to Jean, NV and back which was very enjoyable. Alone with my thoughts and the sound of rubber to asphalt. It's such a surreal feeling to look around and not see the city you were riding through twenty minutes ago. That's the wonderful part about Las Vegas though, you only need to ride for a few miles before you are engulfed in desert and open roads.

Time to get back to work...

Lil Wayne Public Service Announcement

HAPPY OCTOBER!!

A lot has been going on in the world; Steve Jobs passing away, Occupy Wall Street protests, and constant riots in the Middle East. Luckily, we have Lil Wayne to keep us up to date on current events. He's obviously high on syrup but what would you expect from Atlanta's finest. Enjoy!

Garrett texted me a photo of the new Cyclo-cross mash frames. Looks like a few SF riders will be sporting these Belgium influenced bikes.

ISO50 Playlist 13

Scott Hansen turns out another great mix.

I have to be at work in a few hours but I can't stop bopping my head to the new iso50 playlist. Scott Hansen, aka Tycho, aka ISO50 mastermind, has been busy. We’ve got about a month to go until the full release of the new Tycho full length, Dive (out digital Oct. 25 / physical Nov. 15) but for the time being you can pre-order it on iTunes!

not-so-weekly-update post

It's Friday and I'm trying to do as little as possible.

Excuse my silence on here, I did not join the hordes of angry Facebook users and switch to Google+ for a day. I do all my best blogging at work, which is bad I know. I'm usually at work an hour before any one else gets here, an hour before people start calling me, asking for transfers and tracking numbers and all that good hard-working backstock stuff. I haven't left my desk for a few days.

In honor of Interbike 2011, I took a full week off of work. I haven't taken a vacation in a while and they days really added up. I'm taking another week off in October and November; paid of course! While I did have a blast seeing old friends, looking at expensive bikes, and hanging around the UC, it's good to be back to my excellent work routine.

Allegiant Airlines Cycling Team

I will be racing under the blue and white colors of Allegiant Airlines next race season.

After years of racing track and road under the NuVision Cycling Club banner it's time for a change. In the 2012 racing season I will be racing and training with Allegiant Airlines. This was a particularly tough decision. I had been vaguely offered a spot on this team before but after a phone call and a formal invitation to the team, I decided to join. I am very, very excited to begin fall/winter/off season training with some of the strongest riders in town.

My reasons for switching over have nothing to do with trivial things like free kits, legit sponsorship money, etc, but because I am getting a chance to be developed by strong and experienced riders. The racers in the NuVision camp have turned into some of my best friends and I have taken on the role of big brother for some of the younger riders. This made for the toughest part in my decision but after talking to each one personally, they understood and are happy for me.

2011 was a particular disappointing season for me, with weak results and mediocre performances in key races. I felt like I (and the team) concentrated a bit too hard on crits, when I should have been doing proper preparation for road races. The main focus for next season is more stage and road races. Sadly, I will have to get rid of my green bartape out of respect for both teams.

Atlas Sound "Terra Incognita"

In Latin, terra incognita means "unknown land"

With the fall season around the corner, I am making the switch from indie, lo-fi, chillwave to downer-psych-rock.

It's been a while since we have heard from the Deerhunter leader, Bradford Cox, but it has been business as usual; I should say, busy as usual. He released a new track from his upcoming solo project, Atlas Sound. I posted a live version of this track a while ago and the recorded version sounds just as good. A full decription of the track should be made from the reader. So listen...

F/W 2011 RAPHA SNEAK PEAK

Rapha is sewing up something warm for me this winter.

It should be pretty obvious by now how I feel about Rapha. Anything involved or affiliated with them and I am on board. In my opinion, they make the most comfortable, form-fitting, race and leisure bicycling attire around...period. Inspired by London fashion, their designs are modern, sleak, and tatefull; without losing the aestethic of classic riding clothing. Lines and stripes replace the current bombardment of logos and bright-Euro colors. Their cuts are slimmer and their prices are higher. My collection started a few years ago, with a long sleeve jersey, and has slowly taken over my riding wardrobe.

Fall/Winter is my favorite time of year. I get a chance to dust off my l/s baselayers and use my favorite stowaway jacket. Feeling the cool breeze on the road is the reason I fell in love with riding bicycles in the first place. Judging by the photo above, Rapha has some interesting products in the works. I think I see an up-close-and personal photo of a scarf. That will be on the wish list. The anticipation is killing me...
