GIRL WALK // ALL DAY 7 & 8

You knew it was coming: in the latest chapter of Girl Walk // All Day, the troupe finds themselves on the L train! But before that, there's a sweet street fight (or a dance-off, if you prefer), and some American Museum of Natural History action.
PART 7

In the newest chapter of Girl Walk // All Day, the girl gets a makeover fit for the 1%... and then shows off her new look at Zuccotti Park. Unsurprisingly, while there, she gets a lot of attention from photographers, and the thumbs down from the protesters for flaunting all of her fancy shopping bags.

The Glow Remedy

Liz moved to NYC and started a health blog.

This probably isn't the best thing to write (or read) about when you're hungry, but here it goes...

It's great when friends do creative and positive things! Elizabeth and I worked together at Miu Miu for a while before she moved back to NYC. We shared a common passion for health, fitness, and happiness. Everyday she would tell me of some new superfood she found and suggest quick recipies to help me recovery from tough rides and workouts. With all this knowledge, she decided to bring it all to the blogosphere, and we should all be so fortunate.

The Glow Remedy is a great blog, focused on staying healthy and happy. In these sparatic posts and updates, you will read about a very open-minded vegan who is always keeping her body and mind on the same page. That's a Promise Ring lyric I know, but it fits. Maybe her next piece will be about healthy meals (non-protein powder drink) that would help a cyclist recover from a five hour bike ride, where +2000 calories are burned and need to be restored...hint hint.
So follow, read, and enjoy.

NHL Winter Classic

Can not wait to watch this game.

In just four days the New York Rangers will visit the City Of Brotherly Love, and play the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2012 edition of the Winter Classic, which will be played at Citizens Bank Park, Jan. 2 (1 p.m. ET on NBC). Surprisingly, this will be the first time that the Blueshirts will be playing in the NHL's annual outdoor game, which began in 2008 when the Buffalo Sabres hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

So far this season, the Rangers have hosted the Flyers twice and beaten them both times.

As for a composite final score-results history of the NHL's Winter Classic, here it is:
2008: Pittsburgh Penguins 2, Buffalo Sabres 1 (SO) -- Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo
2009: Detroit Red Wings 6, Chicago Black Hawks 4 -- Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL
2010: Boston Bruins 2, Flyers 1 (OT) -- Fenway Park in Boston, MA
2011: Washington Capitals 3, Penguins 1 -- Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA

GIRL WALK// ALL DAY 5 & 6

This one brings you from Chinatown (where Tai Chi meets Lil Kim) to Times Square to the Williamsburg Bridge, where you'll meet some young kick ass dancers. Also, we highly recommend you never try dancing on a moving Vespa in New York City traffic, which you'll also see in this chapter. Enjoy!
PART 5

The lastest Girl Walk // All Day chapter (the 6th, meaning we're half way through the film) brings the dancing to 5th Avenue, the Apollo, and a cemetery (can you tell which one it is?). Enjoy... and we'll be back next Tuesday to keep this party going with another chapter
PART 6

Rapha's Festive 500

500k during the holiday week...

Rapha is challenging riders across the globe to go the distance and escape the clutches of holiday indulgence by riding 500 kilometers between the 23rd and 31st of December. Clock your kilometers however you can and then post evidence on their facebook page: facebook.com/rapharacing.

While this seems a bit easier for the folks who are off for the holiday week, this may be do-able. 500 kilometers is 310.7 miles... which is about 60 miles more than I usually ride during the week. Rapha did a Thanksgiving Festive Contest last month, and I missed it by only 40 miles; and I didn't even know it was going on! Thanksgiving is way different than Christmas though. For starters, it was beautiful out during late November and now the cold is a bit more apparant. Plus, I don't really need to "escape holiday indulgences", I've got work and holiday shopping to keep me busy. I don't think I have sat in front of a TV in months and months.

Megan and I are planning a nice breakfast/gift opening on Christmas Day, so I don't plan on riding that day. I would love for my friends to attempt this excellent off-season training challenge!

not-so-weekly update post

What's going down in Ryan-town...riding bikes mostly.

Over the weekend we had the full Allegiant Airlines Cycling Team in town. We have three racers who live in California, so it is a rare treat to get everyone together for some solid miles. On top of that we got our new kits!! They look amazing and feel smooth. They are Euro cut so the kits fit me like a glove. The color scheme is darker that the season before, which is good because they don't get dirty as fast. For the past few months I have been wearing hand-me-downs from other teammates; there is nothing like New Kit Day, it's almost as exciting as New Bike Day.

On top of new kits...and on top of getting the entire team together...we had the extreme privilege to have TeJay Van Garderen and Taylor Phinney join us on our Saturday Training ride! Both riders are friends with Mauricio Prado and they agreed to come back to Vegas for the weekend. It was amazing watching how smooth they ride and how cool they are off the bike. Tejay was super nice, talkative and always had a smile. Taylor was really cool and joked about staying in the draft. All in all, a very excellent adventure.

GIRL WALK // ALL DAY Part 3 & 4

PART 3

Above is the premiere of Chapter 3, which brings the protagonist to Lower Manhattan, where she teaches some women how to do the "Single Ladies" dance
PART 4

By now you are probably well acquainted with the troupe of dancers making their way around New York City. In this chapter, they bring their moves to the High Line, and atop the Wall Street Bull!

Allegiant Cycling Team Holiday Party

Ugly Christmas Sweater party!

Over the weekend, Andy Bestwick threw a holiday party for our cycling team and sponsors. There was plenty of ugly XMAS sweaters and even more Patron! It was a great night to bond and drink with my team.

not-so-weekly update post

What's going down in Ryan-town....winter training mostly

YES...winter training is in full swing. Time for leg warmers and extra base-layers, Rapha of course. On top of my regular-weekly training schedule, the Allegiant guys are stepping up the base miles. The photo above was taken in Nelson, NV...Nelson's Landing to be specific. It is a long ride with a long and steady climb. I actually hit higher watts going up this than my first 20min FTP test! I'm really lucky to be working with the strongest guys in town. I take great value in all the little pieces of advice and encouragement that I'm getting. Last weekend we had some California teammates in town and next weekend we should have two very special guests on board...
Allegiant made a quick stop to the Hoover Dam and AZ border...NBD.

GIRL TALK//GIRL WALK//ALL DAY

This series is perfectly wonderful.

"Girl Walk/All Day" is a 75 minute video project that follows three characters dancing around New York to Girl Talk's All Day. Creative agency, Wild Combination, brought it all together. While Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk has nothing to do with it, I'm sure he is happy to have his work interpreted via movement and dance.

Gothamist will premiere a new installment of the series every Tuesday and Friday. I may just post weekly. Without further delay...ENJOY!!!

AIR announce new album details

French cloud-pop duo, AIR, are set to release album in February.

I've spent the last couple days on an AIR kick and thought to myself: hey, it's been about two years since Air put out a record. I wonder what they are doing. And sure enough, I read that they are almost done with an new album that is inspired by the 1902 silent film Le Voyage Dans La Lune by Georges Méliès'. The duo provided music for a modern remake of the 1902 classic that will debut next year.

FUGAZI Live Series

Fugazi is a band from Washington, DC. Between 1987 and 2003 Ian MacKaye, Joe Lally, Brendan Canty and Guy Picciotto played over 1000 concerts, covering all fifty United States, Europe, Australia, South America, Japan and many points in between. Over 800 of these shows were recorded by the band's sound engineers, often on high quality recording gear.

The Fugazi Live Series, officially launched on December 1, 2011, is a complete online archive of these concerts. Show pages will feature data from the concerts and (when available) related photos, flyers and MP3 downloads. Visitors will be encouraged to comment on the shows and recordings, and to contribute images and recordings to fill the gaps. The goal is to make the shows available to browse for free or to download for a small fee. Initially the band will release 130 concert downloads (100 new shows plus the 30 shows released on the now out-of-print Fugazi Live Series CDs). Additional downloads, photos, flyers, etc. will be added regularly until the entire archive is available.

In keeping with the band's philosophy of keeping music affordable, the suggested price of a concert download is $5. However, there will also be a sliding scale option where you can set your own price. Additionally, the site offers an All Access option that will allow the user to download every show on the site - that would include all 130 presently available downloads as well as all subsequent shows that will be added to the site over time.

Fugazi Live Series is a wing of the Dischord Records website and utilizes the secure Dischord online store for payment and delivery of the downloads. The site was designed and produced by Dischord's Alec Bourgeois and was developed by Jerrod Blavos of Rec Center. All shows were mastered by Jerry Busher except the 30 shows initially released on CD, which were mastered by Fugazi. Thanks to Peter Oleksik, Lindsey Hobbs, and Amy Breesman for their expertise and help organizing the Fugazi archive. And a special thanks to the many photographers who have generously shared their work.
